Default Anyone else get too used to playing GW?

After enjoying this wonderful game for three and a half years, I finally wanted to branch out to some of the other MMO's out there. Tried some of the thousands of "free" MMO's out there but I ended up enjoying World of Warcraft's PvE the most. What was odd was that after playing with it for the free 10 day trial, I noticed just how much I missed some aspects/mechanics of GW. Just to name a few, what I missed the most was the ability to call targets, skills and spells and the ability to have an army of minions do the majority of the tanking for you.

Has anyone felt the same way when switching to another MMO after playing Guild Wars for so long?

Yeah , I remember standing in the first outpost in one of the games trying to read the skills and other interface stuff and players were talking and talking. There was no way to stop or disable that channel. Thats when I really missed GW.

i've only played one other mmo with similar control schemes as GW, and that's granado espada. unfortunately, that game is grindy as hell and far too gear-based for my liking.

it would be fair to say that GW has seriously spoiled us. i'm not sure if i'm even capable of playing the traditional mmo now.

Same here the simple equipment scheme and controls has made it hard to get into much of anything else.

I'm constantly quitting guild wars for weeks-months at a time, and the thing that always drives me back, is deciding to play a video game and trying out another mmo and being disgusted.

Just play hero battles for a while and that will cure your GW addiction.

GW has changed my standards for MMO's.
It lowered my already low grind allowance border amongst many other things.

HA? Only with good players. PvE? Boooring. GvG kept me occupied for 2-3 hours straight, with average/bad players, but it was entertaining. And fun.

What did it for me was GW's easy-to-read party setup...

You have no trouble locating everyone's red bars. they're all together, so Healers can keep track of what needs healing...

The mechanics of grouping in WoW were just too confusing...

I have been playing WoW for the last month, and yesterday loaded up GW for some RA. It took me a moment to figure out that I don't have to have line of sight to cast spells, it doesn't matter if they're behind me, I can't jump, all that stuff.

It was kind of fun though.
It makes me appreciate some of the finer things in GW though.. it was such a good system!

Well, I'm glad I see that I'm not the only one who has noticed it. Sure, GW can have it's faults... but there's still a lot of good parts left about it that the others just don't have.

Here's to hoping that we can say the same (if not better) about GW2!

I'm part of the shameless title hunting group, when I reach a biiig goal which I've been aiming for for ages I get dispondent as its so far to the next milestone. For eg, just reached r10 Luxon. Can I be arsed to grind the next 2.5m points? Hell no!
Thankfully, my commander title is at 455 wins atm and its only another 45 wins till rank3 - something to work towards!

Yup GW spoiled us. I have cancelled subs to: Conan, WAR and WoW.

Conan sucked

WAR is good, but time restrictions mean it's just not worth paying to play a few hours a week

WoW...well it's WoW. Need a guild to really get into it, plus like WAR it just requires too much time.

During my time in Granado I just Afked the grind away (overnight). AI party + respawning foes ... oh my. Lost drops thou for obvious reasons.

Anyhow, yeas GW spoiled me. a TON.

Fast map travel, no cooldowns, you can be anywhere in 10 seconds.
Respecs at will. Freaking respecs at will. This should be tatooed to MMO dev heads to help em remember what makes game fun.
Next to no obsoleting (ain't it awesome that first warrior skill you get ends up being THE skill?). Learning Firebolt 1 knowing that in two hours of gameplay i will have L2 one and never look back is ... eww. Knowing that that epic sword will be merchant fodder with next update does not help much either. OCD much i guess.
No real mandatory grind and ridiculously low requirements to play with "big boys".
Richer tactics than just tank'n'spank.

WoW only kept me entertained for while because of druid class (only class which reminded me of dualclassing and endless gameplay options from GW.).
